I've been doing cafeteria duty at my high school. It's in 40 minute shifts. It seemed loud the other day, so I searched for loudness checking apps, and Youlean has one for phones. It was reading 100 decibels on average, and so was a second app I tried. I'm still not sure accurate my phone is with that. A Google search suggests anything more that 20 minutes of 100 db, straight, per week, is damaging. Are we messing up everyone's ears? Or is this minor and not worth a worry? I already have tinnitus, for the record.
