Curious if I am the only one. Here is an interesting message that I received from Slate:
---
Important Information Regarding
Your Subscription

Unfortunately, having recently analyzed download and subscription data as part of our offering, we have made the commercial decision to no longer provide services to your region of download.

As of now, you are not able to renew your subscription or make further payments. Effective April 21st, 2024, access to your account and support services will be suspended completely. You will still have access to your plug-ins for the next month.

Respectfully,
Slate Digital
---

Rather odd - as a US citizen - to receive this message from a US company (well, owned by UK parent company AudioTonix), and can't help but think this is a civil/consumer rights violation.

I guess their California activism has risen above their business sense, and instead of simply telling me honestly "We detected you downloaded a plugin while having an IP in Moscow and we are upset over that, so we don't want to let you use our products", they instead created some ridiculous narrative about commercial decision, as if digital point sales and digital products are transacted and delivered by expensive international couriers.

How are we international travelers to use plugins from a company that has decided to become a moral IP geolocating police force? When I am in Boston next month, I wonder how the Slate servers will respond to the change in IP address. Or what if I download a plugin while using Turkish Airlines' in-cabin internet connection? Is international airspace also a region that Slate finds commercially unviable? Or how about airport transit? Does Slate not like it when people download from Istanbul Airport?

Anyway, can anyone suggest a set of plugins that is a good one-for-one replacement for Slate? Needless to say, I am ready to jump from this Slate boat that smells like rotting fish...

Maybe UAD? Izotope?

thanks
