When doing single operator feedback ( phasemodulation ) and increasing the fm index we can get a saw wave before it collapses into noise .
Without oversampling ( before collapsing into noise ) we get these sample peaks but they always are outside the hearing rage , no matter the frequency of the Operator .
A couple of examples , pure data (phasor~ into cos~ using a block~ 1 for 1unit feedback loops )

Here's zebra , doesn't seem like it uses oversampling for the operator self feedback

Now , I recenlty acquired a copy of reason 10 for cheap ( pure for nostalgias sake and curious about europa )
Europa uses algoritms and wavetables , it has two algoritms called feedback noise and feedback fm .
Upon first glance it seems that it does oversampling

But when playing lower octaves , we get this ..those sample peaks fall into the hearing range

I tried to bug the developer Pelle about this but no answer , perhaps some bright minds on this forum can shed some light .
I suspect that Europa is partially using algoritms but is then storing them in a temp sample playback buffer .
In a nutshell , reason's instruments are so underwhelming![Laughing ]()
