Off Topic Classics • Replacing Bose Companion 2 Series III with...

Hello, sadly it seems that the amplifier layer of these wonderful PC speakers is saying goodbye.

Most of the time sound level is very low, regardless source, cables, settings and so.
And I don't think it's something related to the volume knob, it doesn't crackle and doesn't seem to be the cause.

I truly love the sound of these Bose speakers for pure pleasure music listening, especially stereo separation and bass response at quiet volumes is so good for me. But I have to think about alternatives now.

Bose offers to service (repair) them at around 90$ - I paid them 99 Euros five years ago.
It's almost impossible to find them new now, at least at decent prices. They are no longer being produced - what a pity, such a marvel in my opinion.

So, for max 200$, can you suggest a valid replacement that rivals them in terms of audio cleaness and fullness? Bluetooth is not mandatory - Bose didn't have it.

I'm looking at Presonus Eris 3.5 BT gen 2, but they are studio monitors and I'm afraid they lack that "pleasureness" and psycho acoustics coloring that Bose have, I guess the Bose are not neutral at all.
Bose doesn't make similar products nowadays, they are on BT speakers, headphones, or much more expensive home theatre stuff now.

So, any hints or opinions?
Thanks!

- Mario
