Often instrument plugins are made more appealing by adding effects that weren't part of the original instrument. Those effects are usually simple ones like stomp boxes. Presets are more interesting with onboard effects, as they show the potential, although I feel some preset makers are overdoing it (lots of reverb for example). I generally like it when developers add built-in effects, but like many plugin enthousiasts I already have similar effects plugins and I find myself bypassing these completely and using other (better) effects instead.
Are added built-in effects added value to you?
I also wonder if the price of an plugin instrument with added built-in effects is higher than one that only has the original effects.
